Walmart Coupon Swap Ideas

May 6 by Paul Ivanovsky 31 Comments

A reader (Arianne) sent this in this photo from her Walmart store in west TX. It is obviously a Walmart sign and they want to encourage you to trade and swap coupon between customers.

I thought I would see what a few local Walmart stores would do if I asked if I could set up a basket in the front of the store with basically the same sign:

  • 4 out of 7 said that YES I could.
  • The other 2 said they would need to check with higher management.
  • 1 just said “no thanks.”
  • Most would need to approve my sign first.

When I asked about location, it looked like the general spot they would put it would be by the service center.

I would encourage you to ask at your store and see if that would be something they would support. Make a nice, professional ( you know what I mean) sign, and bring it in to show them. Add a basket and see what happens!

The benefits would be:

  • A chance to pick up coupons that you can use and might not have.
  • Opportunities to meet other couponers, and share deals.
  • Create a chance to educate the cashiers and CSM about couponing.

Let us know if you are able to add a coupon swap basket in your store!

Walmart’s Fresh Meat Guarantee: Get A Great Value or Your Money Back!

May 3 by Paul Ivanovsky 5 Comments

Have you heard about Walmart’s Fresh Meat Guarentee yet? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. There was a day not too long ago when I told people to buy their meat somewhere else, those days are over and Walmart is putting a guarantee behind it to back it up!

Walmart prides themselves in selling USDA Certified Choice Beef.  If you feel for any reason the Great Value meat you purchased wasn’t a great value simple grab your receipt and the packaging for a full refund!  Don’t just take my word for it, here’s Walmart’s statement.

“Our guarantee is our promise that you’ll be fully satisfied with the taste and quality of every Great Value product. If for any reason you aren’t happy, we’ll replace it or return your money. Whichever you prefer. All you need is the package and the receipt. It’s that simple. Great quality. Great price. Guaranteed.”

Low Value P&G Coupons? They suck, but there is a BIG bright side!

Apr 29 by Paul Ivanovsky 27 Comments

This is a post my wife did the other day. I am reposting it here as she got a bunch of very smart comments from her readers. Instead of being discouraged and frustrated about the value of the P&G coupons, they were optimistic about trying new items.

From Jamie:

I switched to Arm & Hammer about 2 years ago and my only reason for doing so was the price. Where I live a big bottle of Tide sells for any where between $18.00 and $24.00. The same quantity of Arm & Hammer costs about $9.00 (sometimes they run sales on the smaller bottles for $2.00, so I buy 3 smaller for $6.00 and the quantity of 3 smaller bottles is the same as 1 big bottle so it is like getting a big bottle for $6.00). So instead of buying 1 big bottle of Tide I can get 2 or 3 or sometimes even 4 big bottles of Arm & Hammer for the same price.

From Lisa:

I just read today that P&G’s profits are down due to their recent price increases. They are planning on lowering their prices in order to increase their market share: http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2012/04/27/pg-cuts-outlook-as-price-increases-dont-stick/

When I read this, I told my husband it may be too late. Most of us have already switched to other brands that we now like just as well, or better. Looks like I’m not the only one!

From Lili:

Lucky for me I do not use Tide anymore since I started using coupons. I grew up with Tide and when I was on my own I always used Tide, too. Couponing has allowed me to try new detergents that i like as well or better than Tide.

This is what Tiffany wrote:

Really? Really Tide???? You have the corner on the laundry detergent market, people STEAL your detergent and you only offer a $.20 off coupon?????

Dear Marketing Genius at P&G,

Offering consumers $.20 off a $12 bottle of Tide is a really ineffective marketing tool. It actually just makes us mad. It also makes us more willing to try the OTHER brands that are cheaper and offer a MUCH higher value coupon, making the overall price over 50% less than Tide. With the rising gas prices and overall rise in groceries, dropping the value on coupons does not make any sense. You are also actually hurting the grocery stores that you partner with. I can get the same Tideonline at Amazon, cheaper, no TAX, and get it shipped free to my home. Why would I want to spend the time and money to go to the grocery store with a $.20 coupon? Apply this to all the products that you offered PATHETIC coupons for this weekend.

Signed,

A old Tide, P&G product customer, NEW other brands customer!

5 Ways How NOT to Save Money at Walmart

Apr 19 by Paul Ivanovsky 8 Comments

Before you call the guys in white coats let me assure you that I have NOT lost my mind or gone anti-Walmart.  While I”m always showing you the latest deals and best ways to save money while shopping at Walmart, there are also a few ways that shopping (pretty much in general) will not save you money.

  1. Shopping Without a Plan: Simply walk into the store knowing you will buy something and have no idea what it is you need.  Not only will you forget 1/2 of what you really need but you’ll also pick up things you probably have 20 of at home b/c you’re just not sure.  That’s probably why you have 20 of them.
  2. Bringing Distractions, Make it a Challenge!: Bring along your kids, husband and talk to your BFF on the phone. Just grab anybody that can help load more junk in the cart that you don’t really need.  After all if they think you need it you probably do, right? I am of course having fun with this one, you should bring everyone. You should however teach them the ground rules and give them all something responsible to do during your trip!
  3. Venture Off Course: So you’re there for milk and eggs, why not go look at car batteries and TVs. After all if it’s a good deal you’re still saving money.
  4. Buy Because You Have A Coupon: You’ve clipped all of these coupons so why not use them? Sure you don’t have dentures but you have a coupon for $0.50 off.
  5. Starve Yourself Before You Shop: How are you going to know what you REALLY want if you don’t go in starving? See what your body is craving the most when you are at the physical breaking point!
  6. Never Read This Blog Again: This is the best source on the internet to find the hottest deals on anything Walmart related so reading would save you massive loads of money. Stop reading it and watch your pockets empty, you may even lose all your friends!

There is obviously a large amount of sarcasm involved in this post, but hopefully it brings a smile to your face!

Please feel free to add any tips you think would be useful!
