I totally agree. I am shopping at the Nitro, WV Walmart where they are also doubling up to 99 cents. It is good to find a local couponer who I can compare notes with. Great job!!
Great Nicole! I’ve found that the cashiers for the most part are sugary sweet since this doubling thing started. Very different from the way they were!

WV has a non-food sales tax of 6% and a food sales tax of 3% that you need to take into consideration when doing the math too though because depending on the store- you’ll either pay the sales tax on the original price of the item or the adjust price of the item (less 1 coupon value). Anyways, the dawn coupons say “Limit 4 per transaction” and the Walmarts that I go to in WV are sticklers for this policy. How did you get through with 10 in 1 transaction? Every time I check out I ask “Have you heard how long you’ll be doing the double coupons yet?” and no one knows. Has anyone heard rumor of how long this program is going to last?
You are right about the sales tax but my $19.86 total includes tax.
I am in Huntington and the stores here say they will be doubling for 90 days. They began the first of August so doubling through end of October.

The cashiers I’ve spoken with tell me it’s been *really* popular, so they actually expect it to stick around for a while.
And yes, I agree – with 6% sales tax on toiletries, those aren’t .03 Moneymakers, they’re toiletries that cost 3c each. Still crazy cheap, but not a moneymaker.

It is a standard method used on blogs becaase we cannot know all the different sales tax rates.
I completetly agree with you. I just find it interesting when people call things money-makers that are actually just really cheap OOP.
In some cases, if the item is free, you don’t pay sales tax. In other words, tax can be based on the actual total after coupons and sales. Not pre-coupon. Depends on the state.
I don’t think anyone who posts regularly on blogs is so picky that they will figure out the sales tax per item to see if it is ‘really’ a money maker or not. It would take too much time and it varies by state. People post their deals to help others, not to have them nit picked for petty things. Factor your own savings/mm for your state based on the deals posted.

AWESOME!I too hope this catches on I would love to get those kinds of deals at walmart. They are already awesome with overages, this would just about put out all other grocery stores i go to even the 85 mile haul to krogers, because the one in my area doesnt double or triple.
They know they don’t have to allow double coupons in Arkansas because there is no competition for Walmart there. They are pretty much the only game in town.

I live in Griffithsville,WV and I love that Wal-Mart doubles coupons! I’ve gotten so many things for free! My little sister is going off to college this week and I was able to stock her up with toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant that I didn’t have to pay anything for and made money off of!
I am from Cumberland County NJ and I am so jealous! Way to go! I hope South Jersey gets double coupons for Walmart. It will put a hurting on our Shoprite for sure. We did just find out now our Acme is fully doubling up to a 1.00 now. So now my 80cent coupons are $1.60! Yeah. This is a first for us. It makes a big difference. Everyone North of Burlington County gets fully doubled coupons we down here in the South feel left out 🙁
I am worried. All of a sudden I realize just HOW MUCH overage there is once Walmart starts doubling. I am concerned that they will do away w/ giving customers the overage once they start doubling. Honestly though, I think I’d take lots of FREE stuff vs a couple things giving overage any day!!

Just got back from my Walmart in Barboursville, WV (usually not my place to shop… I have the “privilege” of having a Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, Kroger, Target, and 2 Walmart Supercenters within a 5 mile raduis of where I live :)…. Anyways, I bought 4 Idahoan Instant Potatoes, 1 Oil of Olay body was plus the Satin shave gel, 1 Edys shake, 4 Cascade trial packs, 1 Simple Green Cleaner, and 1 Keebler Jumbo Fudge shop cookie… Grand total was $2.39.. That’s including tax.. Not bad for a “little” shopping trip!!!

Tell you all what, I can not WAIT for this to hit EL Paso Walmarts! NO ONE doubles anywhere around here- ONCE on a great blue moon Kmart does, but not one grocery store does. However, the Manager can’t stand me (because I hold her -Very nice, but firmly) to the coupon policy, which I print off for me, my cashier and HER every single trip!! I can only HOPE and pray this comes to EL Paso, and I can’t wait to get these DEALS!!!! Price match and doubles?? Ohhh baybee!!
OHHH NEWS ALERT for you all. DOn’t worry about Walmart doing away with this- did you hear the HUGE news on CNN this week? Sales over the country are DOWN 4% at Walmart, up 3% at Target and Kmart and the like- why? Target and Knart have discovered we like to use coupons and shop there- so they have added LOTS of food items.ALso the same for Family DOllar and Dollar General- everyone’s sales went up a bit except Walmart. THey are totally worried about consumers going elsewhere- the very next week- PILOT coupon program in place!! COincidence? Maybe 🙂 I am thinking not!
