In tomorrow’s P&G there is going to be a $2 Tide coupon. You can choose to use this coupon in a few different ways, it is a high value coupon for Tide and I am choosing to use it on a larger Tide item. However, if you want to use it on the trial size items you can do that. This coupon will beep for the trial size items, here is why:
According to Tides Facebook page, the Tide single use packets are not distributed by P&G, they are “outsourced” to another company. That is why the coupon beeps, it does not recognize the manufacturer as P&G. Tide says it is up to the store to decide if they are accepting the coupon on the Tide single serve or not.
If you are planning on getting a lot of overage with the coupon, expect it to be a PIA (Pain in the A**) and probably not worth the hassle. There is also a limit of 4 per transaction.
There are many great deals this week on Tide and many price matching opportunities, I am really happy to see this high of a value coupon!
thank you for letting us know.
That explains it!! I think I will try for the larger Tides also.
No wonder they didnt accept my .50 cent off Tide coupon for the trial size..I thought the lil young manager was trynna be funny but its up to them..ok..now I now that loop hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tried to use the coupon this morning at walmart in tennessee. They would not take it
Thank you for posting this since it is the stores choice I have contacted my local store to see what they will decide
I tried the coupons on the travel size today and it beeped. My store would not accept them for the travel size package. messed up my whole plan! lol
I got some at walmart w the $2 off 3 tides and nvr peeped
In my state, we pay 8.8% tax.
On 32 travel size Tides @ .97 each = $2.73 in tax .
Just say 5.99 for Tide 32 load. Tax = $.52 in tax
In my state, we have to pay tax on the PRE-coupon amount.
Take tax into consideration!
My Walmart would not except the $1.00 of on the travel size. I guess it depends what cashier you get because I have done this before and even told the cashier that but still not able to use the coupons so will try a different day.
thank a lot for the update.
I just got back from Walmart. The coupons did beep, but the CSM came over and told her to put it through manually since there were no size restrictions. 🙂
Coupon or no coupon…..this makes me question the “tide” travel size as an actual product of “Tide” if I could only use Tide and Tide Only, as a customer/consumer be very upset to know that I might be getting a knock off. How sad!!!!!!
If you go to their facebook page and read the comments, it IS tide in the travel size packets. Tide licenses the name and product to another company, Cotton Buds, to distribute travel size packets.
I tried to let people know this and they all said it was a lie..oh well..to each his/her own :/
We get our inserts on Sautrdays in our paper. Needless to say, I was excited this morning and bought 30 papers to get 30 tide coupons. MAJOR MISTAKE ! The $2/1 Tide coupons won’t scan on the single use Tide packets. We went to 3 different walmarts and they were all “DONKEYS” about it. I didn’t buy the single use tide, or groceries, or anything and just left the items on the belt since the cashiers and supervisors were so rude about it. I asked them to manually enter the coupons and they refused.
Mahalo for the update!
Thanks for letting me know about this! I have always wondered why they won’t work. The Tide coupon was always a problem every time I tried to use it. I decided it wasn’t worth it a while ago. You posting this makes me feel better about my decision! Thanks.
Few days ago, they said to us that ‘we have to scan each coupon with the item purchased’, and were told that’s the new policy. Today it got worse. They didn’t take travel sized Tide with my $1/1 mfr coupon, even though we explained to the cashier & manager that there were no size restrictions. Also got refused to use $0.50/1 Frigo cheese coupons(with no size restrictions) for $0.33 single cheese stick. We could use them both before with no problem. They again told us that they got a new policy and that they will price match only 4 items for the same priced items per customer per day! We had to go back and put many items back. I won’t even try to use $2/1 Tide. It looks like all the coupons with overage will beep, then they don’t take them, so how can you get overage when Walmart’s policy clearly states that they do!? We shop at Walmart once a week and now we’re thinking about going to the other stores that are closer to our house to get the deals that do not have a limit.
Karin, not many people are going to be able to use the coupon on the single load tide. It is up to the store to decide if they want to accept it.
I know I have used the $1 coupon to buy the trial size Tide at Walmart before. I don’t remember if they beeped or not, but I got to use them. It seems every time the coupons come out for whatever products, there are new restrictions printed on them now. I see more have the sizes printed on them, and a lot are for less amounts than before. It also seems that there are not really good sales these days.
So where are the good deals on the larger Tides??
Dollar General has the 75 load on sale this week for $9.
You’ll have to wait for sales on the large tides
i often see them at kroger for $4.99 once in awhile
& i THINK they are regularly $5 at DG. but i could be wrong.
the smaller bottles are $5 at DG and the 75 load size is $10.50 (at least here they are) BUT they are on sale starting 10-30 for $9
I was going to get the larger size as well. One of my local stores has it on sale for $4.99 normally you can only find it on sale for $5.99 so this is an awesome price with my $2/1!
Who has it on sale for $4.99 or $5.99?
Rite Aid has them for $5.99 and they are included in the P&G get $15 +Up Reward wyb $50 right on the front page of the ad. I got one bottle today for $3.99 after the $2/1 MQ and paid with +Up Rewards, works for me. I could get 9 total for $53.91 retail minus the $2/1 Tide MQ so $35.91 (using +Up Rewards if you have them) and get back a $15 +Up Reward but I didn’t “need that many”.
Walgreens and cvs both have them for $5.99 I price matched at target and used my $1mobile coupon and $2 p&g and got the 32 load for $3. There are also .75c target coupons from a while ago for tide so u can use that instead of the mobile ones
The big bottles of Tide are cheaper at Dollar General. They usually run from $10.00 -$10.50 a bottle. Walmarts is 11.00-13.00 where i live.
Tried this am..and it was a fail. They beeped and then the manager made a on the spot policy that the item had to be over 2.00..def wasn’t worth the hassle!
Went out this morning to get papers, and in my area (ohio) there were no smartsource OR P&G. I didnt buy a single paper today because I cant find any with everything in it…
I went this morning and of course it beeped. Well the cashier didn’t even read the coupon yet but told me that it is not for travel size. I told her that there was not a size restriction. She called the CSM. The CSM came over and told her to manually put it in. The overage really helped since my husband was insistant that he got a 12 pk of Coke which cost me $3.98!!! There was nothing local for me to price match to. I would have never paid that much for pop (even before I started couponing)! LOL
I didnt get smart source or P&G either in Fort Myers Florida. I even checked 2 other stores to see if the paper I got was missing ads. The only one I received was red plum.
Brian, do you know they have two editions on some papers, the early edition has no coupons and the full edition includes the coupon books and go out later in the morning. I almost made this drastic mistake this morning when I purchased the papers for the coupons. See if thats what happened. I also always check the coupons in the paper before I purchase the paper, some people pull them out and then stick the papers back… cheaters… I’ve never done that myself though of course…;)
Well said! Im choosing to use mine on larger size also!
@ Debbie – CVS has the 19 – 32 loads (liquid) or 31 – 40 loads (powder) on sale for $5.94, so after the $2.00/1 coupon it would be $3.94. Rite-Aid also has the 50 oz. liquid (24-32 loads) on sale for $5.99, so $3.99 after coupon. Hope that helps. :o)
@ Cyndi – Excellent point about the tax!!! I live in an area that has 8.75% tax and have to pay on the pre-tax amount as well. I never calculated it out as you did though. Thanks for the insight!
I was able to use my coupons on the .97 packs. It beeped, but the CSM came over and approved it. My BIC coupons also beeped. I’m pretty sure the cashier was annoyed with me, but Wal-mart ended up paying me 1.77 to take 6 items out of their store 🙂
I used it in Mapelwood store in StLouis MO and the register lady was upset that it beeped, but proceeded to enter the coupons in directly by hand for the $2 off. I paid .97 for the product and received $1.03 in overage that I used to buy halloween candy with the $1.50 off mars candies and bought 2 bags of Snickers and a pkg of baby wipes with a .40 cent coupon, leaving me with .08 cent bill (less than tax)… oops.. Needless to say, register lady let me slip by but probably should not have… Glad I didn’t buy 30 papers though… With 3 transactions I got $70 worth of stuff for $18 using a few other coupons as well.
If I could like this I would 🙂
I love overages at WM and I want to keep them coming. I’m passing on using this except for larger sizes during a good deal. Thanks for the info! 😀
I used it at target last night on the trial sized, had no issues at all!
Anyone in Houston try the $2 q on the trail size at Walmart or Target?
I have always used the 1.00 qs on the travel tides and never beeped. since the travel packets upc hasnt changed and all tide qs upcs hasnt changed, i wonder why it beeps on the 2.00 q. when my qs are over the price of the item, the register will say “is the coupon for x.xx amount?” the cashiers always put it through, but no beeps
Thank goodness for local stores that are understanding and awesome! I was afraid that my coupons for tide wouldn’t be accepted. I normally always get my coupons for Tide from http://p-and-g-coupons.com/Tide.html and they always work, so I was afraid that it might not work for that reason.
My local WM in missouri says they will not except them because they don’t scan for the travel size but CM did tell me why it is because they put them in the system as a liquid and not a detergant so they don’t have to except them because they will not scan since no detergants were rung up.
Nice loop whole.
