Back to School: FREE Haircuts for Kids, Salon Services for Parents in Houston!

Need a cheap haircut? This might be the thing for you!

Students may not be ready for summer to end, but at least they can head back to school looking and feeling their best, thanks to Remington College’s
Cuts for Kids program.

Throughout the month of August, Remington College is again providing free back-to-school haircuts for students 17 and under. Cuts for Kids allows parents to save some money on the cost of getting kids ready to go back to school, and students in the Remington College cosmetology program get real-world, hands-on experience with actual clients as part of their education.

Parents can also get a free salon service during Cuts for Kids; anyone who brings in a donation of school supplies – pens, pencils, notebooks, etc. – can get a free haircut, manicure, or pedicure for themselves. All the school supplies collected will be given to local schools for students in need.

All Cuts for Kids haircuts will be provided by students and instructors in the Remington College’s Cosmetology Diploma program. The program teaches students the art of hair, skin and nail care through traditional classroom instruction and hands-on training in The Salon at Remington, which allows students to work with real clients. hair3 Here’s how to participate in Houston:

I went over to Office Depot today and picked up a couple of HOT items. I have my kid’s school supply list already but most of what I purchased was to keep in my stockpile cabinet. These items are not going to go to waste so why not get what you can now for these low prices.

Office Depot has a couple of items that were only a penny IF you purchase a minimum of $5. My son is in need of purple highlighters. I know, purple!!! The problem is that the only ones I could find are in multi-packs. I found this 12 pack with 2 purple highlighters (I am sure he will misplace one throughout the year so we need at least 2) on sale for only $6. That is more than I wanted to spend but I needed a $5 min purchase anyway and now I have that off my list.

Here is what I got:

1 12 Office Depot Highlighters: $6

3 Office Depot Pencils: $0.01

3 mini Staplers w/ 1000 staples: $0.01

3 Pencil containers: $0.01

3 Crayola Crayons: $0.25

3 Bic Bright highlighters: $0.25

3 Sharpie markers: $0.25
I got the thin sharpie markers for my datebook but they also had the thick ones and retractable ones available for $0.25.

My grand total was $9.02, not bad for a bag full for supplies.
