Update-BREAKING NEWS Brita NOT, NOT Honoring the $10 MIR… WTH?!

Hi Brita fans! Great news to report: We will be honoring all the mail-in rebates that were recently available! We apologize for all the inconvenience this caused. Thanks for you patience and sticking with Brita. Enjoy your rebates!

According to the Brita Facebook page they are NOT honoring the MIR that they have had posted. They have offered NO explanation as to why and I can’t even begin to speculate. I am not sure how they think they are going to get away with this but I will keep you updated with any information.

The offer SAYS expires 03/31/2012

CALL and ask for your receipt to be returned to you so you can return it

If you are looking for a way to give this as a gift, here is an example of how my wife often gives magazine subscriptions as gifts. This one she gave the subscription along with a cook book, but you could do the same thing with just the magazine for about $3.50!

What do you make with Blue Cheese?? I make Cobb Salad!

Ingredients

For the Dressing:

3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard (coupon HERE)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 small clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For the salad:

Cooking spray
1/4 pound sliced Black Forest or other smoked ham
2 hard-boiled eggs
6 cups romaine lettuce (about 6 ounces) coarsely chopped
2 cups watercress, thick stems removed
2 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced (about 2 cups)
1/2 avocado, diced (about 3/4 cup)
1 cup cooked diced chicken breast 1 (6-ounce) breast
1/2 cup crumbled Blue cheese (about 2 ounces) coupon HERE

Directions

In a small bowl, whisk together all of the dressing ingredients and set aside.

Slice the ham into 1/2-inch strips. Spray a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and preheat over a medium-high heat. Add the ham to the skillet and cook over stirring frequently, until the ham is warmed through and crisped, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Remove and discard the yolk from 1 of the hard boiled eggs. Chop the remaining egg white and whole egg and set aside.

In a large bowl toss the romaine and watercress with 2/3 of the dressing. Put the dressed greens onto a large serving dish. Place the tomatoes on top forming a row down the middle. In strips on either side of the tomatoes place the avocado, chicken, cheese, diced egg, and the crisped ham on top of the greens. Drizzle with the remaining dressing and serve.

I don’t often suggest using Ebates and I will a little more, but Ebates is a cash back site. It is a way to get back a little of the money that you spend online. My wife has been using it since early 2009.

Most of the time you can only get 1% cash back from Walmart, but today you can get a HUGE 6% cash back when you purchase something. That is just about making it tax free.

If you have never used Ebates it is really easy, don’t be scared, plus, you will get a free $10 gift card after your first purchase.

This is what to do:

Go HERE and sign up for Ebates
Create an account.
Next, look for this box in the top right corner.

This is where you will type in “Walmart”.
Now, you will see this image which will tell you how much cash back you are getting today, you can see it says 6%!!

Click on the orange “Shop Now” image and it is taking you directly to the Walmart.com website.

Now, you can just do your shopping like normal. When your Ebates account reaches $25 they will mail you a check. Take it into your bank and cash it! It is that easy!
