I am going to start doing something new here on I Heart the Mart. As many of you know I walk the aisles of Walmart an obscene amount of time. Let me assure you that as tedious as it is, it is so worth it! Not only do I get to find you the hottest Walmart Deals and Price match opportunities, I get to see some pretty funny stuff. Each week I am going to be giving something away that either tickled me or that I found amusing.

I am assuming that because Merliah Barbie has body art she is 18 years of age. I don’t know if that makes her age inappropriate for your daughter (or son, not judging) but most of the Barbies at our house end up with body art or a hair cut at some point. I will tell you that I was a little disappointed to find out that she can’t stand alone unless on a surfboard, and borderline distraught to find out that she can not surf unsupported. It turned out okay though, when some lady at the store told me that she can do it on her own if she just gets a little encouragement…

Please note that this week Barbie did not actually tickle me, if so, they would need to add that to her disclaimer and my wife would dismember her.

  16. My daughter is 7 and has had “altercations” at school with kids trying to convince her that mermaids are not real. She is a true believer!! Her whole room is done in mermaids and she is being a mermaid this year for Halloween. I am amazed everyday by her spirit and her love for sticking to what she believes in. Kids these days have no imagination anymore and I am proud to have a child that thinks there is still magic in the world. Bring on the tatted barbies!!

  43. Barbie has definitely turned into something of a party girl recently eh? My cousin has 3 little girls who now have a pool after moving around for 8 years. They would love to be able to play with her and have her surf around their pool. I would LOVE to be the hero of our family and give them a great present! 🙂

  54. This post made me laugh! What a great idea – and sometimes you find the most odd/strange toys at walmart. My 2 year old received a “inflable” (is that a new abbreviation for inflatable?) water jet ski thing for her bday, found at our local walmart.

  143. My daughter’s favorite movies for the last couple of years has been Barbie in A Mermaid Tale. For her birthday last month I got her the second one. Since then she has BEGGING me to get her the Merliah doll!!! She’s even telling me that she wants to be a surfer when she grows up so that she can be just like Merliah.

  171. Merliah could use a trip to my 7-year-old niece’s house in Cincinnati, OH. I betcha she would take her to The Newport Aquarium where she would feel right at home!
