Walmart Price Match Policy Updated 11/10/15

walmart price match policy I heart the mart Walmart has made a few changes to the Walmart Price Match Guarantee as of 11/10/15. I don’t think it is anything to worry about, in fact most of it hasn’t changed they just put it in writing. The main differences that I see are:

We reserve the right to limit quantities to one-per-customer, per item, per day**
We will match Walmart.com prices for in-store purchases
The Store manager has the final decision on any Price Match.

Be prepared for this Black Friday/ Cyber Monday weekend that Walmart.com will not price match items on Walmart.com or to other retailers between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.

We’re committed to providing low prices every day, on everything. If a local competitor or select online competitor* is offering an identical, in-stock item for less, tell us and we’ll match it.

Walmart will Price Match local competitors and select online retailers* for an identical, in-stock item.

Price Match at a Walmart store:

It is the store’s responsibility to obtain the local competitor ads
Our customers must inform the associate of the price and retailer (local and online)
We reserve the right to verify the price and the availability of the identical item (i.e. size, model, quantity, brand, color)
The item must be currently in-stock at the online retailer’s website* at the time the Price Match is requested
We reserve the right to limit quantities to one-per-customer, per item, per day**
We will match Walmart.com prices for in-store purchases
The Store manager has the final decision on any Price Match
Online Prices will not be matched in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico for in store purchases

Walmart.com Price Match:

Walmart.com will match the price of select online retailers
The above conditions for matching prices at a Walmart store also apply to Walmart.com transactions
Walmart.com will not Price Match from Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving
Refer to Walmart.com online price match policy for the full policy and/or additional details
The Customer Care Agent processing the Price Match request for a Walmart.com purchase has the final decision for matching an online price

We do not honor:

Misprinted ad prices of other retailers or closeout/”going out of business” sales
Private brand Price Matches
Advertisements that require a purchase to receive a gift card
Percentage Off or Buy One Get One Free advertisements without a specific price
Prices from Walmart Marketplace Retailers or the Marketplace Retailers of competitors, third-party sellers, Auctions or sites requiring membership
Bundle offers, Instant Rebates, Mail-in Offers, Offers that include financing

Updated Walmart Online Price Match Policy

I just received a call from Walmart Corporate letting me know that they released a statement that they have updated the Online Price Match Policy due in large part to the information that we were able to share with them! I am really happy that we were able to help, I only wish they had mentioned I Heart the Mart in the press release!!!:-) Can you believe they saw my video?!

I think the changes are exactly the right thing and will ensure that Online Price Matching is here to stay! What do you think?

“We launched online price matching because it’s the right thing for our customers. It’s making a meaningful difference for people who want to feel confident they’re getting great prices, and we’re committed to matching online prices going forward.

“At the same time, we can’t tolerate fraud or attempts to trick our cashiers. This kind of activity is unfair to the millions of customers who count on us every day for honest value. With this in mind, we’ve updated our policy to clarify that we will match prices from Walmart.com and 30 major online retailers, but we won’t honor prices from marketplace vendors, third-party sellers, auction sites or sites requiring memberships.

I Heart the Mart.com helped break the news last week that Walmart was going to start pricing matching online retailers like Amazon. This is a permanent policy not just for the holidays and YES I did confirm this with the Walmart Director Of Communications this morning. I put some information out there that was designed to help educate my readers and shoppers so they cold have a better shopping experience. The information was the Front End (Cashier & CSM) Aid to help them serve the customer when price matching online prices. It was not necessarily intended for the public but it wasn’t confidential so I gave you guys the info. (I will have to think twice next time) I never dreamed that people would take it to the low levels that they have. The deal below is not a legit price match deal.

The biggest problem is coming from people price matching Amazon Deals. There are people trying to and some successfully price matching deals like $1.00 Tide with crazy high shipping costs. YES! The policy states that they will match Amazon Marketplace deals. YES, it states that they will even match $.01 deals. Understand that it has to meet their Price Match criteria in the first place AND that they specify limits.

Here are the two questions that are causing the most issues. Understand that these are separate questions and don’t necessarily relate to each both. Walmart often views things as completely separate like the price match and the coupon policy.

Q: When verifying the listed price of the “online item”, does the price being verified need to include the shipping price/fee?

A: No, it is the price of the item only.

Q. Does Walmart match online 3rd Party or Marketplace sellers?

A. Yes. We will match 3rd Party and Marketplace pricing but will limit quantities to normal retail purchases or one per customer or household. The Store Manager has the final decision for matching an online price.

Q. Does Walmart match online competitor pricing that is significantly below normal retail
pricing, for example, $0.01 items for sale on 3rd Party or Marketplace retailer sites?

A. Yes. However, per policy we will limit quantities to normal retail purchases or one per
customer or household.

The biggest rule to understand is that Walmart doesn’t match Gimmick pricing or pricing that can’t be determined independent of other charges. This allows them to exclude these items. I really don’t want Online Price Matching because I think it is a great tool. The rule of thumb to go by is that Walmart allows you to buy any items that they carry for the exact same price at their store or online. This is to help you save time and money.

Effective November 14th, 2014 Walmart and Walmart.com will Price Match Online Prices-

Walmart will start Price Matching Online Prices Friday November 14th. It has been in a few test markets but it goes live nationwide tomorrow! I have received copies of the front end job aid and the list of Frequently asked questions! These are internal memos that are not marked as confidential so I feel pretty good that I am allowed to show this to you. The policy they post online for the public may vary a little bit, but it is always great to see how they tell their employees to handle situations.

Walmart Online Price Match Policy 2014 Hold on to your hats because this is gonna blow your mind! I even have a pretty solid list of what stores they will be honoring. As far as I can tell is a new permanent policy, it is not limited to the Holiday Season!

Here are the basics of the new policy. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability. There are a few grey areas, but I think it is awesome and we should be careful not to try to abuse it!

1. You will be able to price match many online retailers including Walmart.com and Amazon. You will even be able to price match 3rd party vendors.

2. If you are buying on Walmart.com you have the ability to call a Customer Care Rep and they can adjust the price if you find it online somewhere else.

3. You DO NOT have to bring the ad to be able to price match. Cashiers have authority up to $20, CSM’s $20-$50 and anything over $50 is at The Store Manager’s discretion (Salaried Member of Management) My rule is don’t be a moron and try to cheat the system. BRING YOUR AD or be prepared to show them your phone. They can verify on their hand held scanners.

4. You will be able to Price Match Black Friday, but it may be tricky. Here is where it is addressed in the FAQ:

Q: Are Black Friday event items that are NOT 1-Hour Guarantee items available for online price matching?

A: Yes, Black Friday in-store event items which are NOT 1-Hour Guarantee items are available for online price match if the items are identical. Walmart.com will not honor price matches for Walmart.com items between Thanksgiving and Cyber-Monday.

5. Here are the stores they name:

A: Complete the “Price Override” using action code #2, the same as in-store Ad Match.

Q: Is the customer required to show the online price they are matching?

A: No, it is the customer’s responsibility to state the online retailer and the online retailer’s price and then it will be the stores responsibility to validate the price difference if it is more than $50 or if the price is seems unrealistic.

Q: Does the store need to validate all Online Price Matches?

A: No. The online price should be validated when the price difference is more than $50. Take

care of the customer.

Q: Does the item have to be instock at the online retailer?

A: The item must be instock at the online retailer and at the Walmart store for Walmart to honor

the online price.

Q: Do we limit the quantity of an item?

A: Where applicable, Walmart will limit quantities to typical retail purchase quantities or one-per- customer or household to exclude dealers and resellers. The store manager has the final approval.

Q: How does a cashier validate the “Online Price Match”?

A: The cashier can approve an online price difference of up to $20 without validation. The CSM can approve an online price difference between $20 and $50 and is encouraged to validate the price on the MC55 or at the Service Desk when the price difference is more than $50.

Q: Which online retailers do we price match?

A: We match most online retailers with the exception of Sam’s Club, Costco, and Auction Sites

(e.g. Ebay Below is the list of some of the major online retailers the CSS/CSM/management will

be able to access to validate the online price match on the MC55 or at the Service Desk.

A: If you find a lower price for a Walmart.com item on another online retailer’s site, contact

Walmart.com before your purchase and one of the Customer Care Agent will provide assistance with a price adjustment. The Customer Care Agent has the final decision for matching an online price.

Q. If I am at a store wanting to “Price Match” my Walmart.com purchase as I have found a

lower price for the Walmart.com item on another online retailer’s site, will Walmart match it?

A. Call 1-(800)966-6546 and one of our Customer Care Agents will provide assistance.

Q. Does Walmart match online 3rd Party or Marketplace sellers?

A: Walmart does not match any Membership clubs and Auction sites (e.g. Ebay).

Q: What do we do if the CSM is trying to verify the online price and the competitor website

won’t load or is slow?

A: Competitor websites may experience issues or slowness when loading. Please refresh or use

a different device. Contact a member of management for guidance to match the online price.

Q: Are 1-Hour Guarantee Items available for online price matching?

A: Walmart 1-Hour Guarantee items are not available for price matching.
