Easy Salsa Verde Recipe

Need a quick salsa for the party this weekend or snack for the whole family? Try out this super easy Salsa Verde Recipe that goes perfectly with any cheesy or meat dishes you’ll be making. You can also pair this with just your simple tortilla chips for under $2.00 per bag at Walmart.

With Football season in full swing and the Superbowl just around the corner, this recipe could definitely be the hit of your next party! Just get out your Food Processor pick up a few ingredients and this recipe will be ready to go in no time!

INGREDIENTS

5 Tomatillos, husked and rinsed
1 Jalapeno Pepper
1 tsp minced Garlic
2 tbsp chopped fresh Cilantro
1/4 cup minced Onion
Juice of 1/2 Lime
1/2 tsp Salt

DIRECTIONS

Tomatillos have an outer husk/shell that you will first want to remove and throw away. Next the inside skin of the tomatillo is usually quite sticky so you will want to rinse them well. Tomatillos are similar in nature to a tomato, however are a little firmer, are not nearly as juicy and have a limey flavor.

2. Now to give your Salsa Verde a little kick, remove stem and seeds from your jalapeno. If you want a mild/medium salsa use only 1/2 to a whole jalapeno. If you are looking for something with a little more kick go for the gold and dice up 2 of those babies!

3. Get your Food Processor or blender out and add tomatillos, pepper and garlic process/blend until pureed but still chunky.

4. Add onions, cilantro, lime juice and salt. Mix well (not blend).

If you have these 4 ingredients you HAVE to make these biscuits tonight. These famous Biscuits are from MyLitter and always a huge hit! They were AWESOME!! If you have a Popeye’s in your area these taste just like the biscuits from that drive-through!

7 UP (or Sierra Mist) Biscuits
2 cups Bisquick (coupon HERE)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-up (Coupon HERE)
1/4 cup melted butter

Cut sour cream into biscuit mix, add 7-Up. Makes a very soft dough.
Sprinkle additional biscuit mix on board or table and pat dough out. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a 9 inch square pan. Place cut biscuits in pan and bake at 450 degrees until golden brown.

You will NOT be sorry!

Halloween Rice Krispie Treats – On a Stick!

I posted earlier about all the options that Walmart had for making your own treats this year.

My wife makes all kinds of treats for each Holiday and really just about every week for one reason or another. That is why I look like I do! Awhile ago the kids and I made my favorite things in the entire world. Rice Krispie Treats.

This is what we bought. I would just get the almond bark, and color that. It was the easiest to melt.

We also picked up this pumpkin pan, it was $9.97.

I made 2 batches of Rice Krispie treats. If you have not made these before they are really easy. My 12 year old made these batches. It took 2 batches to make what you see in the picture.

When the rice krispies were hot, I pressed them into the pan.

The kids helped by putting the sucker sticks into the treats. My wife suggested dipping the sticks into the melted chocolate first then sticking them into the treats. We let them harden for a little while.

This kid is a pro. He ate about as many as he helped fix.

While they were hardening a little more I chopped the almond bark and melted it on the stove. You can use the microwave but my wife gets set in her ways and so we do it this way 🙂 Just heat it slowly or you will burn it.

Then get the kids and start dipping them. You can do whatever colors you like, dip them a little or all the way. We did both. The kids had an easier time just dipping the tops and adding sprinkles.

My kids do this stuff all the time with their Mom and so they were helping me!

We started getting fancy and adding the pre-made figures you can buy at the store.

My 8 year old (mini Martha Stewart) got the fanciest and was making Frankenstein. I thought it was Elvis, so it is a good thing I didn’t say anything and let her talk!

We bagged them in the $.97 treat bags and tied with twist ties. I am sure you can add ribbon but I am just able to tie my shoes, ribbons are too much trouble 🙂

My wife waked in as we were wrapping up and added the candy corn to the bags and they looked great!

About $.75 a treat! (The more you make, the cheaper!)
