Rainbow Seeds Candy Bags

Need something quick and easy for the classroom treat for St Patrick’s Day or Easter even? These super easy and quick Rainbow Seed Candy Bags are amazing. You literally only need TWO things from the store (unless you are out of printer paper) These are something super easy that the kids can help with, if the classrooms require unopened items you can always buy the pre-packaged mini M&Ms and place them in there as well (Although it does kinda take the fun out of it)

Shopping List:

(1) Large Bag of M&M’s ($2.98 at Walmart) You can also use Skittles, Spree Candy, or even Froot Loops Cereal in substitution of M&Ms
(1) Set of Reclosable Bags 100ct ($2.00 at Walmart)
Rainbow Seeds Printable
Stapler or tape

Step 1:
You will want to print your Rainbow Seeds Printable PDF first and cut these out.

Step 2:
Pour the desired amount of M&Ms into each baggie and close (be sure to squish all the air out or at least as much as possible)

Step 3:
You can attach the Rainbow Seeds Printable PDF by using tape or stapler (stapler option seen above). You can use double sided tape to stick the printable to the bags and avoid holes etc.

Valentine’s Day Candy Robots

Valentine’s Day is creeping up fast this year and you may have already seen all the stuffed animals and candy lining your Walmart aisles. The kids are going to be super excited to pick out their classroom valentine’s cards but what if you could make something cool and quick for their classmates or teachers? You can make three different styles of Valentine’s Day Candy Robots. (Did you know you can order Groceries Online at Walmart ?)

You will need:

Brach’s Hearts, Hi-C Juice Boxes, Yoohoo Boxes
Starburst Candy or Laffy Taffy Candy
Google Eyes
Dove Heart Candy
Double Sided Tape or Hot Glue (sticky dots may work as well)

Directions:

Take your body of choice (if it’s the drink boxes make sure you are working with the side without the straw as the front)
Use your adhesive of choice and stick the arms on first (using Starburst or Laffy Taffy). You can squeeze and semi mold Laffy Taffy to be more straight so they stick out more if you’d like.
Make your “feet” by attaching four Starburst Candy together OR use the Dove Hearts and Starburst method at the bottom of this post. You can use a piece of paper or foam to make it more sturdy as well.
To make the head portion, stick two Starburst together by the side, then you’ll attach them to the body of choice (for drink boxes make sure you are not covering the straw hole on the top) If using the Nerds then you just stick google eyes on those and go. (These are a bit bulky on the Brach’s bodies though.)

That’s it guys, just 3-4 easy steps (if you count putting the google eyes on) and your little candy robots are ready to go and you can make a candy robot army these go by so fast.

All these items can be found at your local Walmart ranging from $1.00-$3.98. The price breakdown will be done for each robot below.

This is the lowest price out of pocket for the Valentine’s Day Robots and somewhat the easiest ones to assemble together. (So easy even Dad can do it)

We opt for double sided tape as it means all the candy or items included are still edible. The Dove Heart is optional but adds some cuteness to it.

The next design with the Valentine’s Day Robots is the Hi-C Box version which is great if the kids need to take snack or you can send it with them in their lunch boxes.

You will need: (4) Starburst (2) Google Eyes (2) Laffy Taffy or Starburst Packages (1) Hi-C Juice Box (these are $1.98 per 8pk) and your choice of adhesive. We opt for double sided tape as it means all the candy or items included are still edible. The Dove Heart is optional but adds some cuteness to it.

This last version of the Valentine’s Day Robots mixes it up a bit and gives the robot “feet”

You will need: (2) Starburst (2) Dove Hearts (1) Nerds (2) Google Eyes (2) Laffy Taffy or Starburst Packages (1) Hi-C Juice Box (these are $1.98 per 8pk) and your choice of adhesive. We opt for double sided tape as it means all the candy or items included are still edible.

To make the robot “feet” you can add these to any of the above versions of the Valentine’s Day Candy Robots. You will need (2) Starburst and (2) Dove Hearts. I suggest sticking the Starbursts piece together and then sticking the Dove pieces together where they touch. Then stick the Starburst to the Dove Hearts. (You can also use a small piece of foam underneath the whole thing as well to make it easier.

Halloween Popsicle Stick Characters

Here is a super easy, simple, and frugal Halloween craft you can do with your kids at home, daycares, or even teachers can do this with their whole classrooms. You can choose to do a lot of the pre-work/paint ahead of time if you have smaller kids or less time to create with. All your supplies can be purchased at Walmart and a little goes a long way with the paint!

You will need:

Large Popsicle Sticks
Paintbrushes/sponge brush (optional but easier for larger areas)
Small bottles of acrylic paint (green, white, orange, black)
Pipe Cleaners (optional)
Packaging tape

Scarecrow:

Take 5 large popsicle sticks and lay the flat. Take clear packaging tape and apply on one side of the popsicle sticks to create one piece.
Take 1 large popsicle stick and place it slightly slanted near the top of the other popsicle sticks. You can stick it down with double-sided tape or just roll a piece of packaging tape over and stick it on.
Paint the top portion (including the slanted stick) orange and add a small triangle on the face for the nose.
Paint eyes and a smile on the face.
Once the eyes have dried you can take a small amount of white and do a comma like line towards the top portion of the eyes.

Frankenstein:

Take 5 large popsicle sticks and lay the flat. Take clear packaging tape and apply on one side of the popsicle sticks to create one piece.
Paint all 5 popsicle sticks green and let dry.
Paint “mountains” over the top portion of the popsicle sticks and then fill in with black
Draw on “stitches” like a tally mark grid in black paint
Draw on a smile, grimace, or other facial expression with black paint
Use white to draw two circles for the eyes and fill in and let dry
Paint over the lower portion of the eyes with black paint

Ghost:

Take 5 large popsicle sticks and lay the flat. Take clear packaging tape and apply on one side of the popsicle sticks to create one piece.
Paint all sticks white
Paint to circles for eyes in black paint
Paint an oval for the mouth in black paint
Fill in the circles/oval

Pumpkin:

Take 5 large popsicle sticks and lay the flat. Take clear packaging tape and apply on one side of the popsicle sticks to create one piece.
Paint all sticks orange and let dry
Take black paint and do the outline of the eyes, mouth, and nose. Mouth and eyes are triangles.
Fill in all the facial features with black paint
If you mess up like I did on the mouth just throw some white teeth on there.

You can then apply pipe cleaners along the back to make the door hangers (or to hang on the walls). Attach magnets on the back and make them holiday fridge magnets. The kids will love making these and you’ll love how easy they are!

DIY Dum Dum Trees: Great for Teacher or Mother’s Day Gifts

If you’re looking for a super easy craft that even Dad and the kids can make for Teachers or Mother’s Day this is one for you. All these supplies can be purchased at your local Walmart or other big box store near you. Once you figure out if your clay pot painting or not this craft takes literally under 10 minutes to complete.

You will need:

Dum Dum Suckers $2.50
4″ Styrofoam Balls $2.97
4″ Clay Pot $1.97
Mini Clay Pot $0.34 (Optional)
Spray Paint $1.97-$3.86 (Optional)

Step 1: If you are spray painting your clay pots, I suggest laying the top down. Depending on what type of spray paint may depend on how long it takes to dry. You may need more than one coat depending on the color you are using as well.

Step 2: Place the 4″ Styrfoam ball into the top of the clay pot. Start your Dum Dum by placing the first row right along the top of the clay pot. You will only stick the sucker into the ball until the paper starts on the sucker.

Step 3: The next row you will go on top of the existing row. You will place your suckers in the next row in the space where the suckers meet as shown in the images above. (It’s easier to show than the explain).

Step 4: Keep making your rows as shown in step 3 until your Styrofoam ball is full. You can add a bow or ribbon along the rim of the clay pot to add a special splash of color too.
