Best Coupon In This Weekends Paper: Advil Pocket Packs!

Aug 13 by Paul Ivanovsky 73 Comments

There is a $5 off any three products listed (no trial sizes)8/14 RP. Advil Pocket Packs are NOT trial size. They are $1.84 at Walmart, this means you can pick up 3 packs for $.52. That makes each pack about $.17.I know its not as good as the $4/2 coupon we have seen before, but to be honest I doubt we will ever see that one again.

Deal Idea:

Advil Pocket Packs $1.84
Use $5/3 products listed (no trial sizes) 8/14 RP
Total: 3 packs for $.52

I’m sure this will be a no-go at my walmart. I had some $2/advil printables and after many attempts to use them on the pocket packs gave up. My WM kept insisting the PP were trial size, then when I argued said they wouldn’t take them because the coupon was more than the item. I even complained to corporate and got a call back from my stores manager who told me to come in and use them. After waiting 15 min in line and the cashier/CSM arguing with me they finally took them yesterday. However, its not worth the hassle/embarrassment to me to try again 🙁

Sorry you had any trouble, according to Advil corporate, the pocket packs are not trial size.

My walmart in Findlay will not accept these coupons either. They say the pocket packs ARE trial size in their eyes 🙁 I told them that I had also spoken to Advil and confirmed that they are not trial size. The manager at Walmart said that they have the right to use judgement on what consists of trial sizes (regardless what Advil says). Bummer!!

There are NOT going ot be the traditional UPC barcodes anymore, they are all going to be data bar codes. Your Walmart will need to scan it with the hand held canner.

Walmart!! Today I went into the store to use the last of my cascade 1.00 coupons. She looks at the 3-pk. She said the picture had a 16pack on it and would not scan the coupon. I stated, it does not have a size restriction on it. Scan the coupon and it will work!. I even pulled out the P&G coupon for tide stain and it had the sizes underneath the 1.50 off. She goes over to the CSM and tells him ” the picture does not match the 3- pack”. CSM says NO!. I said, ” ok please let me speak to the department manager or store manager. ” Guess who was walking behind us, the STORE MANAGR! The CSM grabs the store manager and states, ” we have a coupon issue”. The Store Manager walks up to the cashier and ask what is the problem. She said, this picture has 16 on the package but she has the 3-pack. He takes the coupon and reads it. He looks up and says “Did the coupon not scan?” She looks at him and respond ” I didn’t scan it. The 3-pack is .97. It will be free if I scan the coupon. Is that ok?” At this moment, I wish for a camera, the store manager looks at her! Then said, “If the coupon scan with no issue, then it is ok.”. She was red as a beet. Of course the coupon scan with no issue! It makes me sooooo angry! I wasted 30 minutes of my day because she thought I was stealing from the company! I plan on writing to cooperate to thank them for educating their store managers but please continue to train the cashiers!

I went this morning to get the cascade and that was all my cashier read my coupon for at least 2 mins. I was so mad. I am not sure if this will apply to yall store but worth a shot 🙂

I was at Wal-Mart this evening to get a few items before coupons expired. I had the $5/2 Advil coupon and was questioned about the pocket packs as trial size items. They brought the CSM over. She tried to pull the same stuff with me. Now they call the manager over, She says these are trial size items, I said show me where it says trial size on them. She states “I don’t want to argue over it, its only $5 and told the cashier to accept the coupon”. I also would like to see where Advil lists these as not a trial size item. I just want to shove it in there face.

1st- Theracare in my store is $5.98 for 2 pk
2nd – Cashier and I argued over trial vs pocket pack on Advil
3rd- (this is the REAL kicker….The cashier and CSM tell me, Walmart has a NEW coupon policy that states, “You can only use 1 like internet coupon per transaction”. Laymans terms, I could NOT use 2 of my $0.50 Starfish Tuna Pouch coupons b/c they were printed from the internet!!! Mad is NOT the word for it. I am calling corporate AND writing them to let them know how embarassed and upset I am. (rant over)

Manager told me that since the register was not accepting the coupon-it’s because they cannot be use on TRIAL SIZE-therefore I left all of their pocket packs and paid for my other items and left! 🙁

I also tried to buy 6 with 2 coupons and was told by CSM they would not take them because they were trial size. I then tried to price match soda with my ad and was told they will not match a loyalty card price from another store.?!?!?!? I was furious because their own commercial even says they do. I price match all the time with ad and don’t usually have a problem. Of course I didn’t have my price match policy with me though, only coupon policy!!! How can employees not know this? Don’t they ever see WM commercials???

All the feedback on this deal makes me wary of trying it. My walmart is horrible about accepting coupons. They told me the last time they only accept internet printed coupons with “the scissors on the top”. i.e. from Coupons.com. If they start only accepting those internet printables, that’s really going to suck as there are a lot of coupons out there that are not through coupons.com.

Why is walmart so coupon unfriendly? 🙁

I am so humilated and embarrassed. I went to Wm and they were out of 90% of the items I had coupons for so I stopped at Target. They had the Advil Pocket pack and the Tide sample size and the Cascade sample size and also the Kleenex bundle. They refused to let me use any of the coupons for it because they said they were all trial sizes. I told them the Cascade and Tide did not have size restrictions and advil were pocket packs but they refused. I have never been so humilated in my life. The manager spoke to me like I was an idiot. I didn’t yell, scream or said anything else. Couponing is not fun. I’m just trying to save a couple of $$. They lost me as a customer for life. I spent $169 there and now swear never to set foot back to Target in Sugarland (59/H6).

My Walmart was extremely confused about what to do with the coupon and then ended up deciding that since the date on the bottom was just the date ‘9/13/2011’ and didn’t specifically say ‘Expiration Date’ that they weren’t going to take it for that reason. I told them what else would that date be, and my name is even on the coupon. Anyway, I ended up deciding to just take the coupon to a different Walmart since this one has always seemed to be ‘uneducated’ about taking coupons, but I did e-mail corporate because the CSM was pretty rude about it and I read over the coupon policy and no place does it say it has to have the wording ‘expiration date’ as long as it HAS one. (Right?) It was just… weird.

I had the same problem at Target in Arlington TX on South Cooper. I got a very inexperienced cashier. It must have been her first day. She barely knew how to scan items, much less read coupons. She had to call the CSM over 3 times to help her read coupons. Then she had to call over the store manager because she didn’t understand how to read the $1.50/2 J&J Red Cross items coupon. They refused to allow me to use the $5/2 coupon on Advil Pocket Packs, saying they were trial size. I explained that the trial size come in 2 or 4 tablet foil packs. The CSM didn’t believe me. I told her that I had bought Advil Pocket Packs with coupons at that store before but she didn’t care. I told her that I’d have to use them at Walmart (which I have also done before) but she didn’t seem to care about that. Very frustrating.

I think its funny how stores and cashiers are uneducated about coupons and the TRUE value of them. I’ve ran into several cashiers and even managers who freak out over coupons that are worth more than the product or even so close in price it leaves only pennies to pay out of pocket… the truth of the matter though is that my $1 off coupon is worth MORE monetary wise than the guy behind me’s $1 bill! Stores who accept coupons are not only reimbursed for the amount of the coupon but also an additional amount as a handling fee for even messing with accepting coupons! Meaning my $1 coupon could be worth anywhere from $1.08 to $1.50 and sometimes even more! By using coupons and using them wisely everybody wins! The store makes more money in the end than they would have to begin with and the customer recieves free or very cheap items that they need. I wish more stores, managers, and cashiers would learn this and stop viewing “extreme” couponing as a legal form of theft.

    Hi guys

I wat at a superTarget in Atlanta, Ga today. They had tons of Advil pocket packs for $1.37 clearance and Adult Robitussins Clearance for $4.82. I gave the $5 off/3 products coupon to the cashier. She glanced at my items and said they had POCKET packs written on them and so weren’t trial size items. She put in $5.00 into the computer. Basically, you get each item for 85 cents…So if your in the Atlanta area, this is a GO!
