Airwick Deal Update! Update to the Update! Video Proof

Aug 3 by Paul Ivanovsky 60 Comments

There has been a lot of controversy and ugly comments back and forth regarding this deal. I didn’t even post it myself, it ended up on my Facebook page and got really ugly quick. The bottom line is that the deal is good. I contacted Airwick myself and they consider the Gadget + Refill packages a Starter Kit. If you have these at your Walmart you can price match them. It is a great deal on a really good product. We need to be very careful on both ends of this debate. Please make sure you are using coupons appropriately and on the other side please make sure you are not falsely accusing someone of something serious. We are all on the same team here and I am just trying to help you save the most money I can.

So, here is the deal if you can still find it! Dollar General has these on sale for $4.00. They are $4.97 @ Walmart, most Walamrts will match DG because they have items over $1. If your Walmart won’t Price Match to DG, it is still a very good price for this product.

Use: $4/1 Air Wick Freshmatic Compact Starter Kit, exp. 8/21/11 (SS 07/10/11)
Total: As low as Free!!

I agree that people need to not post such rude comments about a deal without doing homework on the deal. If I personally question a deal I ask CSM or I will contact the company who put the coupon out or I just plain skip the deal. Being ugly to others over a post is not called for….

Paul thanks for posting the update…my findings were the exact same as yours. 🙂

I want to point out it’s the Airwick Freshmatic ULTRA that is on sale. It’s NOT the Compact. The ultra and compact are two separate products.

If you’re going to use the coupon, please make sure it says Airwick Freshmatic ULTRA.

Ok so back in the beginning of July, I bought the refill + freshmatic ultra. I don’t see how using the coupon on that would be any different than using it on the refill + gadget. I don’t understand why so many of the fb followers got so fired up over this deal. If Airwick and WM say it’s fine, go ahead and use the coupon! Which leads me to my question….which flyer did the coupons come out of? The airwick q’s I had expired on the 24th, were there new ones?

I have a question about your video that you did where you called the company… when you asked him about the sale at Dollar General-I don’t think you worded the ad correctly. The ad states: Air Wick Freshmatic Ultra with free gadget. When you were talking to the man, you told him it was the gadget with a refill. The item really is a refill with a free gadget–similiar to buying deoderant that comes with a free body wash attached-you can not use a coupon for the bodywash-correct?? I don’t want to hurt anyones feelings and at this time I think using this coupon is really up to the person if they feel it is right and it goes through, good for you. But for me I do not think this coupon should be used on the sale item at DG, nor should you PM at Walmart to get a $12-$14 item for free using the $4.00 coupon!! IMHO

So, you don’t think they know what products they sell? its a starter kit, it has a gadget and a refill. I never addressed what was free, I simply said what was in the package. They told me the first time I called that if a package has a gadget and a refill, its a starter kit. you are missing the point. the gadget makes it a starter kit.

There is a difference in the products. There was orginally a $12 kit a month or so back. Now Walmart and DG have a kit that only retails for $4.97 at Walmart regularly. This is a different kit than the original. So if you are price matching at Walmart, it is only a $1 difference from DG $4 sale. I understand where you are coming from, but I just wanted to clarify. You can pull up the DG ad and it shows a kit with smaller packaging than the original $12 kit. The one’s I found at my Walmart were on an endcap seperate from the $12 kits. Hope this helps to clarify for you 🙂

I was only able to buy one today at DG (since it’s 5 minutes from my house and Walmart is 15 minutes). They had one left sitting on the end cap. My poor cashier was so confused when she pressed the total button and it said TOTAL $0.00. And to add, I live in southeast Texas and my Walmart had no problem price matching DG the other day when I paid $3 for Gain laundry soap (reg. price $7.97, price matched DG for $5 and finished with a $2 mfr cpn). I really haven’t had any trouble having Walmart price match anyone.

Listen, if you haven’t been couponing very long, there’s one VERY important thing to remember: if it doesn’t sit well with you, then DON’T DO IT. When there is a gray area, then you just need to sit back and let others take care of themselves.

There’s constant argument on sites about using a $/1 coupon with a BOGO coupon. Despite the coding (one which makes it correct, one that doesn’t), I don’t do it. But if others do, and feel okay with it, that’s fine by me too. It’s OKAY to have differing opinions, but don’t guilt others just because you feel differently.

There are no DGs in my area so I have no way of getting a flyer. Can you price match at Walmart without a flyer?

      August 4, 2011 at 10:03 am

Yes you can price match without a flyer…but if you have no DG nearby then you can’t do the price match. Walmart only pricematch local stores, usually within a town. When you get to the larger metro areas most stores have a certain mile radius that they will price match stores to but if there is no DG in your area at all then you can’t price match. Hope that makes sense.

Paul: THANK YOU so much for doing this! If you dont mind I am going to ask those on facebook to check out this video clip. A certain SOMEONE who I wont point out names….has decided to have her “spies” look on other couponers profiles/photos, and show the photo on her page, then they point out the person, calling them a fraud & a fake for using this coupon. She insists the coupon is not valid for the product. These are grown women!! Really..for them, I can say get a life and a hobby! Thx again & you look mighty cute in your video but your little cartoon character dude does look a like you haha!

It doesn’t matter what Paul said at all. The Airwick Rep said as long as it has the gadget AND refill then it is a starter pack. 🙂 For those who don’t want to use it, then just don’t use it..but..don’t HATE on those who decide to grab the deal. It’s personal preference at this point. Like I said, the man on the other end of the phone said as long as it has a gadget AND refill then it IS a starter pack. (Sorry Paul, just had to try to help “clarify” things. 😉 )

Julie, I don’t have the UPC number. I didn’t post this deal one of my readers did and then all hell broke loose. If I somehow lost all credibilty over one post out of over 1600, that the company cannot even get straight, so be it. I will also tell you that I just got back from Walmart and NOWHERE on the unit everyone is insisting is the only correct one does it say “Kit” or “Starter” anywhere on the packageing. It does have AW FM STR on the UPC tag on the shelf for a 10.99 product. It also says on another product that is $4.77 AW FM STR White. I am going back to take a better picture to put up. I appreciate that you have followed in the past and would love for you to continue to come back. Thanks, Paul

I wish all those GROWN women would stop raising hell about a coupon. They act like they are upholding the law…who do these people think they are? The Coupon police? Give me a break, I wouldn’t dream of causing trouble and arguments over a damn coupon. The way I see it is if you don’t want to use the coupon then don’t! Nobody is forcing them to use the coupon and if me or you or the hag down the street wants to use the coupon it’s none of their business. I haven’t used the coupon but I plan on it. These women are common gossipers and trash talkers, they are pros at mind games and making you feel like crap. Nobody clips my coupons except me, they belong to me, I paid for them, and I’m going to use them the way I see fit. If they don’t like it TOO BAD! To all the self appointed coupon police grow up. Sit back and think before you speak…or type and you will hear how insane all this is. WE ARE FIGHTING OVER A COUPON! REALLY? If I was Paul I’d run every one of you seahags that want to cause trouble off my site.

Don’t care either way, so not argueing, just giving you the info
