Christmas and the Holiday Season is spending time with our loved ones. I Heart the Mart is a site designed to help you save money so naturally there is a lot of focus on the gift giving side. As the father of seven children, I cannot in good conscience bring myself to look for deals or think about shopping after learning about the horrific tragedy that happened today to all of those beautiful children in Connecticut.
We pulled our kids out of school, not because we had any fear for their safety but because mine and Tiffany’s souls just physically hurt over what those parents must be going through. We wanted to hold our kids and just take some time to be with them. We talked with our older kids about what happened and about how to have a plan wherever they are to make sure they are safe. We decided not to talk to our little kids, its bad enough that we felt like we had to talk to the older ones. We didn’t want them to be afraid of going to school or anywhere else. Crazy or evil can happen anywhere.
In lieu of going on a long rant of what is wrong with America and all of these absolute COWARDS that can’t function in our over medicated society without everything going their way and never learning to deal with disappointment or hurt…. (stopping myself now)
I will just tell you how much I love each one of you and appreciate you. Please say a prayer or give a moment of silence for the victims of the horrific tragedy and let them know that we are thinking about them. Take some small comfort in the fact all of those innocent children are safe now in Heaven and bless the parents and survivors that they will be able to endure through the unimaginable suffering that they must be going through.
I want you to turn your computer off now and go hug someone you love and really start or continue to think about what is important this Holiday Season.

News is always so negative, I hadn’t heard about this until I read your posting…extra hugs to my loved ones and talked to our son about this…and how he should always look out for his younger sister.
As my husband told our son, you only get one life…live it the best you can and remember there are no ‘second chances’ on life (unlike some games).

it is really hard to have to talk to your kids now days about these things. we had to talk to our youngest when she was in junior high. she was an office aide and was there when a bus driver brought a kid in off the bus who had a gun with him. thank God nothing had happened. but to talk to your child about what to do, do you help your friends? what decision do you make when some thing like this happens, …..our kids have to grow up so quick. i pray for each and every one that is affected by this.May the meaning of Christmas really come thru for each of us this season.

Thankyouuu for posting this – not the sad news But actually taking time out to show respect!! It’s a very sad day for so many! My heart breaks. I don’t have kids of my own but I have nieces,nephews & little cousins. I can’t imagine the pain everyone is feeling today.. I hugged my husband today & I’m very thankful for my family & friends! Life is too short!! I lost my brother in law in February ,both grandmas,2 close friends in tragic accidents & it still does not compare to this awful awful tragedy today. Prayers to everyone
My heart is so broken. My boys and my grandchildren all live in different states so I called to hear their voices and sent out hugs. I respect you Paul sincerely for taking the time to posting on this. I feel like there is a family here that stays together thru the ups and downs. I appreciate everyone on this blog. They get me thru rough coupon matters and now a devastating heartbreak. God bless you all and if you cant hug your little ones (mine r not so little anymore) but call them just to hear their voice.
Thank you for acknowledging this tragedy with a blog post, Paul. I’ve been holding my son a little tighter yesterday and today, and don’t know how I could continue to live without him. The victims’ families are in my prayers.
As a third grade teacher in a not so small town, this KILLED me. I said a prayer the minute I received the news and when I picked my babies out of the special they were at, I hugged each one of them and told them I loved them. I pray for the families who lost their loved ones, but my fear is for the children who have to live on and every day remember that fateful moment that they became grown-ups at a young age.
